Program Impact Analysis & Data Infrastructure Development
Background
Community organizations often collect valuable program data but face challenges in organizing that data into clear insights that demonstrate impact to stakeholders and grant funders. Melanin Mommies operates several programs aimed at improving the wellbeing and safety of Black families and youth, including mental health initiatives and youth development programs. However, the organization sought support in structuring its data collection processes and transforming program data into clear reports that communicate outcomes effectively.
This project aimed to help Melanin Mommies evaluate program impact, improve data organization practices, and develop reporting tools that support grant applications and long-term program assessment.
Project Details
Our team collaborated with Melanin Mommies to analyze program data and develop systems for improved data collection and reporting across two key initiatives.
Workstream 1: H.E.A.L Together Program Outcome Analysis
- Analyzed data from the H.E.A.L Together program, a mental health initiative serving children in grades 1–5 through twelve-week cohort-based sessions.
- Examined program participation and engagement across program components including therapy-style cohorts and community resource initiatives such as Safeguard Housing.
- Developed visualizations and narrative reports that highlight program outcomes and participant impact.
- Created storytelling-focused reporting materials designed to clearly communicate program results to stakeholders and grant providers.
Workstream 2: Data Structuring & Evaluation Design for Black Babies Swim
- Designed a consistent framework for collecting and storing program data for the Black Babies Swim initiative.
- Developed pre- and post-program survey structures to measure participant outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Recommended standardized data management practices to ensure long-term consistency in program reporting.
- Created guidance to help Melanin Mommies effectively present program data in grant applications and impact reports.
